A call to share Truth
By Omatsola Lawanson, Th.D.
A raw exploration of faith, resilience, and hope. Omatsola confronts struggles like divorce and finding faith in a modern world, but her story transcends personal experience. Through lessons learned (2021-2023) and encounters with the Holy Spirit, Omatsola unpacks a standalone message, weaving a tapestry of hope for those facing challenges in faith or relationships.
Over the years, I have enjoyed God's teachings about living a practical life with Him, guiding me through my flaws, lovingly directing and leading me. While I will continue to remain in communion with the Holy Spirit, I now understand that it is time to embrace the assignment God has placed on my life.
“…I questioned why God would choose me — Tsola, to talk about this topic, considering my own history of marriage, divorce, and remarriage. I felt unworthy and feared being labelled a hypocrite.”
On 5th of April 2023 I had been fasting, and the Lord has been speaking to me about surrendering and submitting everything in my life to the authority and obedience of Christ. We must bring everything into obedience to Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. As I lay on my bed worshipping and listening to songs by Chris Delvan Gwamna, such as "Holy Ghost" and "Walk with You," I began to reflect on recent events. In WEBS Ministry, we recently studied the story of creation, focusing on Adam and Eve, and the Lord revealed to me that He made one woman for one man. This revelation made me question many things. Does it mean one cannot remarry? What about widows? Ultimately, it means that from the beginning, God intended marriage to be a union between one man and one woman. As stated in Genesis 2:24 (NIV), "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."
Understanding this truth, I felt a strong burden to share it. I questioned why God would choose me — Tsola, to talk about this topic, considering my own history of marriage, divorce, and remarriage. I felt unworthy and feared being labelled a hypocrite. I presented my prayer partners and that night, I experienced my first backlash, and I realized that this path would not be easy. However, I was ready to accept it for God's glory.
I shared my experience with a good friend, Anote, who told me, "For not resisting God's work in your life and heart, God is taking you to a new level in ministry. Be thankful." Hmm that was so deep for me. The truth is we may find scriptures to justify our actions, but we must not use God's word to resist the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. Romans 12:2 (NIV) advises us, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
While lying on my bed and worshipping, the Lord reminded me to document this experience. When I asked what it was, I heard "THE CALL." As I continued worshipping, Chris Delvan's song "Say Yes" played, with the opening line, "From the break of day I can hear the captain call, do you hear him now?" This confirmed it for me. My response is, "Yes, I say Yes, Lord."
In the words of Chris Delvan Gwamna's "Walk With You":
“I was afraid, I must confess, that if I told You the depths of my heart, You might laugh and walk away. But You stayed.”
"When You called on me, with the vision to follow You, I wasn't sure of exactly what lay ahead. But I have heard You say, 'Come and walk with Me.' Though I had heard of Your fame before, from the mouth of Your very friends, What I have seen and heard surpasses all they said of You. While I walk with You, take me deeper to the heights of Glory, Where the eyes of the eagles never see. I am captivated by the thunder and the lightning of Your word, every word You speak is life and every breath just revives my soul, preparing me to face the battles ahead. I love to walk with You."
I was afraid, I must confess, that if I told You the depths of my heart, You might laugh and walk away. But You stayed. Now, I am captivated by the joy of walking with You. Take me deeper, Lord, and lead me in Your truth. Every step I take, every word You speak, prepares me for what lies ahead. I love to walk with You, and I say Yes to Your call.
